Hi,

When I output a panoramic MOV using panorama factory, the file works fine when I open it natively in Quicktime (allows me to pan etc). But when I load this into my Panorama Player template I just get a blank screen. The hotspots appear and it doesn't actually throw an error - just blank - tested in IE7 and FF2.

When I try a MOV someone else created (using the same template code) it works, so my template must be ok. Could I be missing something obvious with the way I'm outputting my MOV??? I thought it was because I was using Sorenson compression so tried JPG but same issue.

Sounds as if you have hit the Flash size limit that was pulled over our heads by Adobe in December.

More about it HERE (http://flashpanoramas.com/forum/showthread.php?t=745)

Just for arguments sake, I outputted a 1.5MB file only 3599x1024 but I still get a blank screen.

Perhaps I should try some different stitching software?

If you:

* Open the QTVR (.mov file) in QuickTime
* Choose to "Save As..."
* Save it to a different place (or with a different name)
- choosing "self-contained"

How does this work, if you use the "new" file with FPP?

You do not say if you tried to upload it to a server. My guess is that you have got the Flash security problem.

When you say movies others have created do you mean one you saved on your computer.
The movdecoder does not work offline especially if you are on Mac unless you set flash security to allow this.

Also are you sure you use the correct xml for cylindric movies.
you need to have both movdecoder and cylconverter.swf
layer_3 = files/limits.swf
layer_5 = files/cylConverter.swf
layer_6 = files/movDecoder.swf

And what about compressed headers.
They are not supported.

OK. I purchased Quicktime Pro - saved as self contained movie but still doesn't work.

I already tried uploading to server but no good (and the old one's still work fine, so I'm guessing it's not a security issue).

When I say "old ones", I'm referring to the QTVR files that a contractor originally provided. These are full spherical whereas mine come out of "The Panorama Factory" as cylindrical. When I test with one of the original panos (from contractor) it works fine using all the same code etc...

I didn't have the layer info in my XML so I tried that also. Still no good (and yes, I'm clearing cache completely - deleting offline files etc each time I try).

I now have this in my XML file:

layer_3 = /includes/heritage/virtual-tours/files/limits.swf
layer_5 = /includes/heritage/virtual-tours/files/cylconverter.swf
layer_6 = /includes/heritage/virtual-tours/files/hotspots.swf
layer_7 = /includes/heritage/virtual-tours/files/movdecoder.swf
layer_8 = /includes/heritage/virtual-tours/files/menufullscreen.swf
layer_9 = /includes/heritage/virtual-tours/files/autorotator.swf
layer_11 = /includes/heritage/virtual-tours/files/tooltips.swf

I'm not sure what "compressed headers" means. What can I try next?

I have absolutely no experience with "Panorama Factory", so can't reall y speak to this. Maybe someone here who has tried the Panorama Factory can.

I would recommend emailing Denis of FPP directly regarding your MOV issue. It probably has to do with how the PF is compressing (or not) its QTVR headers -- and this is something that Denis mentions in the documentation, requesting information about QTVR.

I downloaded the Mac version of panoramafactory and stitched one panorama exported as movie with default settings. As far as i can see it uses jpg and the movie also displayed in FPP just using the default template in the tutorials. Size was 6200x1600

However the decoding took much longer time than a cubic. I checked the movie and it uses 24 tiling which might explain it,
Another cylindric which was almost twice as large but with 12 tiling displayed much faster.
In both cases it just shows black screen while making the cubes even if the xml is set to streamed.

I would export the panorama as a cylindric panorama and then use one of the converters which can convert to cubefaces.

Hans,

Is there any particular converter you would recommend that may have a trial period? Obviously I don't want to keep throwing money at software until I find a solution that works. So far, I've purchased the FPP licensce, Panorama Factory and QT Pro.
