I've noticed, that my blog is not very useful for discussions.
So, if you have some questions or thoughts, we can discuss it here together.

Denis, all I have to say is WOW!

I am VERY impressed and very excited about the 2.1 version, the clock, and the photos WOW!!!!

just a question, could it be posslbie to embedd small flash apps and use the effect of the photos? example the yellow note on the monitor, could it be a Text in Flash so you could bring it up like the photos and then scroll if it has too much text.

again, VERY impressed!!!

Congratulations Denis! Nice work.

As Jan said in the blog, why old customers are penalized and have to wait more than new ones?

It would be fine to have a GUI around your framework to set the parameters like in Pano2QTVR. For us non-programmers it's always quite difficult to create new projects. To avoid this the normal user will create maybe some templates and use them over and over.
So you could split your flash viewer into a package with the handcoded xml files and another package with a GUI. I personally would pay for a nice GUI to simplify the creation of panorama tours.

I don't know what you guys are talking about, you can see on the post that its not released yet! (he said its ready to go but documentation needs to be finished) so I don't think Denis is penalizing anyone, its just not released

2shanti: Yes, it is possible to use applications like this. When appplication is distorted, it is not interactive (buttons inside don't work - will be possible later), but you can float it up like for photo in the example and change parameter distorted to 0, this will make application accessible for user mouse and keyboard.

2ThomasK: Yes, 2.1 version has simple gui to set up main parameters (I will show an example tomorrow), but it can't help you to creat items behaviour, to make scripts. Maybe in future versions...

2Jaaaab: Ok, ok. I wil try to make it during a single day. :)

Hi Denis, the first time I opened the demo I saw the loading bar and then the play button. On clicking the play button the panorama loads but none of the video extras are visible - blank screen on the monitor, static clock and no images on the desk. I can see the fps readout in the middle of the screen.

It is obviously working properly for others but, for some reason, not on this computer (Mac OS, Firefox, latest Flash etc.). I do have trouble refreshing Flash movies - something useful that is missing from the Flash player. I'm looking forward to seeing this demo soon!

I emptied the Firefox cache and successfully re-loaded the movie - fantastic work Denis. I guess in my first attempt the browser didn't fully load the plugins - the fact that the fps display was in the middle of the screen would support this.

Had a quick look to new update.

Does the "What's new" file means that every old xml files have to be updated for changing staticalign into salign?

Hi

Well i find this really disturbing...

I hope next versions won't need to do things like that, i mean it's not really reliable if we have to work on past projects in order to make them being able to run with new versions.

Hi Denis

The features in the new release are really cool. But even after reading the hotspot documentation I do not check how you made your "Add some life to panoramas" sample. It would be very useful to publish the XML of this sample.

Thanks

Yes, this was a single incident.
For example, old commands from v1.0 like "change:-,alpha,0" still workng. :)

Found a bug!

It seems that new pano.swf has problem with multiple assignments.

I mean the way you do your assignments in livePano.xml doesn't work.

For example:

goUp=" pano.qualityStatic=low saturation=0,1000 depth=15 static=1"

will not work but

goUp=" pano.qualityStatic=low; saturation=0,1000; depth=15; static=1;"

will work

seem to be a ";" problem!

bye

Denis
06-04-2007, 01:43 PM
Yes, you need to divide assigments using ; or line feed.
Because some parameters can be empty:
loaderText =
loaderFailed =

I thought I point it in manual.

Great work Denis - I am almost ready to give up all the other pano viewers I am using :D ,

I have a few questions that some of you more experienced users might be able to help with. Here is my sample:

http://demo.newspin360.net/flashpanoplayer/pano.html

1) Fly up image overlap - I placed two fly up images in my pano - one is on the bar (dark red) and one is on the floor by the tripod location (same image). When you view one of these fly up images and then position the pano so the image in view is over the other image (for example you are viewing the tripod image but the bar is behind it) - the other image on the bar shows through the first image. I hope that makes sense. I am using a cut and paste of the xml file used for the "Add Some Life" example.

Here is the xml file: http://demo.newspin360.net/flashpanoplayer/panoxml.xml

2) Using this same xml I wanted to add two hotspots - one to link to another pano and another to show a YouTube video. However, when I used the code from the manual I could not get either working. I am new to a lot of this but I wondered if it was because of the global parameters I have used for hotspots. I don't know. Does anyone have a suggestion or sample xml code for these two things - preferably using the box parameter so I can distort.

Thanks!

jaaaab

Denis said that distorted hostpots won't work with youtube videos, so you got to download it first and then use flvplayer.

Thanks jaaaab that helps,

I have been work with the documention and I can't seem to determine how to do it.

I have two panos that are connected with hotspots,

http://demo.newspin360.net/flashpanoplayer_tour/pano.html

xml file - http://demo.newspin360.net/flashpanoplayer_tour/panoxml.xml

When linking panos in this way (using the linked parameter) is there a way to set the panHome= parameter for the next pano?

I would like to link multiple panos and be able to determine the starting location on each.

I know how it is to see the same questions a lot that are often in the manual, I am a regular on the Tourweaver forum and I feel like I have a good background on that application - I am often in your shoes, helping other.

But now I am just SOOO EXCITED about this viewer! I want to do everything right away! :D

Denis, you should make 2.1 open source for all of us flash developers. it will improve your product.

Hi Denis,
I read that in v2.2 you were going to release the equirectangular version? Will it resemble the cylTest one, or will you put constraints to prevent it from going all the way up / down? I mean, near the bottom and top the image is really distorted and not really usable. Or maybe apply a mask near these regions, like a company logo?

When will v2.2 be released? Can we have a version of cylTest in the mean-time that can actually "save" the cube versions locally (an AIR app?)

Cheers!

...I read that in v2.2 you were going to release the equirectangular version?... I mean, near the bottom and top the image is really distorted and not really usable. Eh? The zenith and nadir view are "really distorted?" This is certainly not my experience. Can you point to an example of what you mean?

I am basically a designer that has trouble with complex coding. Is there a place that I can learn more about the XML coding that is required to make the more elaborate functions like the flvplayer video embedding in the FlashPanorama Player. As a novice trying to follow the tutorial that are "step by step" I still seem to be missing syntax somewhere. I have been able to do the autorotate and fps but nothing else seems to work for me. When directed to cut and paste code there is no specific directions as to where I should be pasting the code.

Is there an XML for dummies or are the tutorials written for those who have programming abilities?

Please Help

Hi to all of you,

I bought the FPP 2.1 a few weeks ago (excellent work Denis!), and I played around with the tutorials and the example files. Unfortunately, the example file "Panoramas exhibition with previews" has an error. The html page loads correctly but, when I press any of the load buttons, the swf file shows the text "loading failed" and nothing happens. I checked the scripts and the paths but I couldn't find any bug. Any ideas?

Also I'd like to create a page with panoramas, similar to the player web page (http://flashpanoramas.com/player/) where the swf has a "load" button to load the panorama and, when all the images are loaded, the "load" button changes to a "fullscreen" button.

Thanks

George

Is it possible to load you panoramic player into another flash movie using loadmovie.

I,m creating a interactive kiosk and require something like your app to play inside my interactive, but without having to load through a browser, as this could present a issue of security on a kiosk

Mjon
09-26-2007, 01:42 PM
You can load a movie as a child however as the player is written in AS3 the parent movie has to be written in AS3. There is a .FLA and source code for this in the samples.

You need either Flash CS3, Flex2 or one of the free swf builders that support AS3.
