For me this is spam. But asking Admin if we can allow this topic here..
For me it is a No.
Because we are simply a forum that is for the program flashpanoramas, and krpano is a rival product.
We Can allow an objective topic about the 2 programs features and wich one is better. that will help Dennis to improve his program.

No problem GATO.. you did not get a warning from me.
I think 90% of the panorama makers already know of that piece of software.
And sure you can link to your homepage.
I am also using other softwares besides FPP you can see on my homepage.
So don't worry. KRpano is a great piece of software, just do not advertise it on this forum please.
Just
Wait what Dennis got in store for us :)
huaaah,
I m relieved to hear that. I ve thought I never may use another software than fpp.
Thank you, discocandy, thank you very much. I m really relieved to hear that.
Then i may use "krpano", "JATC 2.1", "pano2vr", "immervision" and all the other stuff to build and show panoramas.
Huahh, thank you, then i may use "Fashificator", too!
Sometimes its better to thing than to do...sorry again"

My 2 cents worth here: I don't think there should be a deletion of links to competing software. FPP stands strong against KR Pano in my opinion, even though there is always space for improvements.
It is important to hear about other programs out there, and to see what other software can do, and to see what the userbase of FPP is interested in. By deleting such discussions or links to relevant examples, is doing FPP a dis-favor. I think the zoom effect in KR Pano is interesting but not essential. It will come as a feature for FPP, and as I understand it, it was BECAUSE of KR Pano, and people's interest in that feature, that result in it coming for FPP.
On the other hand, I don't like KR Pano's pricing policy... by selling licenses for servers... yes, even if they have a complete license... it's a model I don't approve of personally, so I will not be amongst their customers.
Another thing I don't like about KR Pano, are their example panos... those are badly stitched and have extreme wavy lines. If they are so sloppy about their examples, I have a good reason to expect other bad things to hide behind their surface. Is it possible to reduce the wavy lines? I'm sure it is, but why on earth don't they provide examples that have better? Does it require too much from puters? I don't know... nor do I care.
I have seen KR Pano, and I will stick with FPP.
And Gato, the difference between me spamming up the place with Flashificator, and someone else bringing FPP competing products, is that Flashificator is MADE FOR FPP. Is a tool FOR FPP and benefits the users of FPP, while other products, such as KR Pano, are not made FOR FPP. So there IS a difference. But again, I stand by my opinion that it is beneficial for FPP to have discussions and examples from other products, even (ESPECIALLY) when competing products have some new and interesting features to offer.
Over at Immervision the admins don't allow ANYTHING to be discussed or pointed out, if it is contrary to what they regard to be their holy cow. They don't listen to legitimate concerns or suggestions of improvements. The ONLY time the admins over there reacted to a request posted in the forums, was when I asked them to delete my account... which they were quick to do.
I recommend that we keep these forums ALIVE and allow discussions about other products, because in the end, it will benefit FPP. Denis is interested in making his player better, and to become better, it is often needed to get input from outside sources.
Ok, that was a lot for 2 cents (must be eurocents).

HI Tuddi.
thnx for your reaction.
Like I wrote down I asked the admins and other moderators their ideas about this. and for now I deleted the links.
As you could have read I wrote down that a discussion about other programs comparing with FPP is allowed by me.
but only giving links and saying something like:
"he I've seen a great player! If you ve seen this, than you forget fpp.."
is not the way a comparing topic starts.
For me that is spam.
If the topic started with:
"He did you see the cool lensflares in KRpano
they seem much less fps hungry as the FPP ones"
That would be a topic I could allow.
BUT. this is my opinion. Not sure yet how other moderators and our admins stands with this.

Freddy

Hi there:
Not to point out the obvious :D , but there is an objective forum available for everyone to discuss all the "rival" players out there: http://flashpanos.com/forum
I too agree that the FPP forum should be mainly a place for users to talk/learn about FPP -- though I will keep my thoughts to myself about whether or not gato's post should have been censored.

Just to add my meager voice to this I, too, was taken aback by Gato's post at first, mostly for its audacity. But if he feels that way... But then it made me chuckle a little based on my own relative knowledge of the programs. (And KRPano does have some interesting features.)
Personally I wouldn't call it spam, at least not compared to the real spam we had problems with earlier. While the post wasn't made as a balanced discussion starter, with this community it wouldn't take long to become one. Witness Trausti's post which contained great comparisons. Nor would I remove the links. They are just added information.
FPP is more than strong enough to be compared to any competitor, even if that discussion starts with, "If you've seen this, than you forget fpp.. "
In my opinion, I wouldn't worry in the least about a post like Gato's. It will be balanced out by the community and the resulting discussion will only help us grow. Gato may even have added to it by explaining why he was embracing KRPano over FPP.
That is my 3 cents (inflation, you know).

LOL;)
I agree with you all the way.
But untill I get a reply from denis about this,
I will not put on the links anymore.
I have no secrets for any members so this is my messege to Denis:
For me this is also a learning experiance how this forum is managed best..
Hi Dennis.
did you see the moderation I did on a topic on KRpano?
http://www.flashpanoramas.com/forum/showthread.php?p=8121#post8121
I removed the links on that topic because I thought it was more an
advertising for KRpano as a compare topic wich would be to use of FPP.
What is your opinion about that.
did I go to far by deleting the links?
some members think so..
Regards, Freddy.

I think the insight to krpano examples looks not very adequate on this forum, so moderators was right removing the links. It doesn't mean I'm going to taboo the word "krpano" itself for whole forum. ;)
I offer to compare players on a neutral territory like flashpanos.com forum. And nobody will leave offended.

Sorry for the trouble Denis.
I thought you would be competently enaugh to tolarate my opinion that KRPano does have some interesting features which fpp dont have. I full agree you have done a good job and fpp will become some more interesting features in the future. Otherwise i wouldn t be one of the first who had by fpp. But as id seen the other player (i dont have the heart to write the name of it ones again ...) i spontaneously had to cry it out.
:::Sorry to all the others here, i never will do such blindfold things at this honest forum:::
So, Denis, keep going on your good job and dont forget to look around.

Ok. Since I did put my 2 cents here earlier, I think I need to raise it with one more to equal Scott's contribution :)
Firstly: Denis is the one to set the agenda here, and his response proves him to be very skilled in the art of diplomacy: He suggests the discussion of "competing" software to be moved over to flashpanos.com where indeed everything can be discussed. Brilliant suggestion, and my hat is off for that! How do I read it? Well, excuse me Denis мой друг, but I think this means that you understand and accept the positive aspect of comparing different products/functionalities for the further development of FPP, but that you prefer to have the discussion ... ehem... not right here, but still HAVE the discussion. Very good response on your behalf!
Secondly: Gato. Even though you may have come through as a bad potato with your initial post :) then I must salute you for your reaction to the decision Denis made.
Thirdly: We have a proof of a good moderator, that reflects the opinion(s?) of Denis, and that is good.
On fourth place we have me... I'm the bad egg in the basket. I still hold the same opinion, but I'll try to be a good lad and not raise issues that might topple the balance in here. If I have something that may be contrary to set lines, I'll go and post over at Patrick's flashpanos.com
It's not that we don't have a space for the discussion, it's just that we have to know and respect WHERE the discussion should take place, and that I can respect.
Sincere thanks to all involved parts.

I think it is time to close this topic now.
