Hi Denis and everyone
I'd really like to start a discussion about how FPP could be developed. I assume all here on this forum are interested in panoramas and most sell tours to clients. At the moment if I get a client intested in having a tour I can tell them that's it's easy to add the tour to their site. But what I would like to do is to offer the tour AS their site. So I'd like to hear ideas on how it can be extended to give the basic functions of an html based site.
What FPP is:
For me the reason for using FPP is that, using Flash, it can display a scalable or fullscreen panorama as a background to other information. It's a highly visual tour about as good as can be expected.
What FPP could be?
All the above and a complete simple web site by adding text support, links to other pages and the means of allowing the customer to have some basic important interaction such as book a table, seat etc.
So here are a few not well formed ideas to get you started. I don't know if any or all of these would eventually be possible.
Text:
Text box hotspots which display text written in the xml or loaded from a text file. Would have scrollers and hot text that does something when clicked. The text should be user sizable to address accessibily requirements for the visually impared. Many institutions must meet this requirement.
Links:
Text links to other sites could open in another browser window. Text links to it's own site could open a hotspot which is 100 percent the size of the background and links from that 'page' would close itself before opening another. A back button could remember the sequence of hotspot pages. Dropdown menu is a good start.
Images:
We are interested in the visuals so it would be good to have stills work in a similar way to panoramas. You would supply stills at a larger size so that they can scale. The stills could be used as a background, the only way I can do this now is to make a still into part of a sphere and show it as a locked pano so we need a simple way to do that. If stills are in a normal hotspot they could be a percentage so that they scale with the background or can be user enlarged for accessibility.
Video:
We need a high quality video player with controls. The one supplied now is ok for pinning to the panorama but is not good otherwise. The player needs to play flv videos and any other swf presentation so that a full bells and whistles Flash movie can be shown inside our panorama site.
Data:
Perhaps this would not be possible but ideally you should be able to book a seat or even make a purchase. Any ideas. Have I got it all wrong?
Cheers
Trevor White.
