Here is the latest gadget from MS... not quite in the category of panoramas as we know them, but still in the general neighborhood .
http://photosynth.net/Default.aspx
Only available to windows users (what a surprise... coming from MS and all) ... and an 8 mb download is needed to view the contents.
Not impressive.

Kinda fun to play with.
It is very slow to process and only does it on-line as near as I can tell.
Has anyone else played with this?
Here is one I did:

There is already an approach to take Photosynth yet one step further. See it here (http://www.istartedsomething.com/20080814/uni-washington-microsoft-research-yet-another-mindblowing-3d-photo-viewer/).

Now THAT was more interesting than the MS version. Why is it that MS products are always so far behind the rest?

MS is a huge corporate entity that has little innovation and the employees
are fat and not hungry. They lost me with VISTA. I love my MACS and won't go back.

I tested VISTA and gave up on it the same day. A monolith with nothing of importance to offer. After buying the Mac for the project, I know that it won't be new PC's next time I shop for puters.

Yep, my wife keeps using my MAC because the little VISTA dell PC we bought is so frought with problems. I don't have the time or desire to try and "fix" it.
I may just take the hard drive out and trash it.
