Is it possible to use spherical images instead of cube faces?

No. You need to remap your spherical image to cube offline, so my tests with online Flash sphere->cube conversion give me about 2-10 minutes per pano... :(
Next version is supporting cube stripes (single image file with 6 faces together), the same format as for Spi-V panorama viewer.
