Hi all,

I want to present you a virtual visit of my engineer school, the ENSIL, in Limoges, in France.

The link is here: http://www.photoglob.fr/ensil/

The interface is very simple, one map per floor.
I try to give possiblity to the user to navigate easily in the visit, using hotspots + title, and map + spots + thumbnails.

I use the 2.1 version of FPP, my introduction effect in the panorama didn't work with the 2.2, and i don't have time to find a solution.

The xml for the interface is a big nightmare for a newbie in FPP, check the source of the page, but i am sure it's possible to make a more simple interaction between panoramas & hotspots.

The webmaster of the school is very pleased about this demo, but i want to get some advices or remarks about users used to see panoramas & virtual visit, like many of us in this forum.

Thanks by advance.

Vincent

Vincent,

That is one ambitious project! I see why your school likes it.

Since you ask for suggestions I will offer some opinions for what they are worth.

Autorotation: You set qualityMotion to medium. That results in a stuttering motion on nearly all computers. Try low quality. For me the trade off lesser motion quality and better smoothness falls squarely on the smooth side. Also I might lengthen the pause time to give people a moment see what they may want before autorotation starts again.

If you increase segments setting straight lines in your pano will be far less wavy. I find 25 to be a good compromise. 30 is even better but puts more strain on the system.

Speed: You might check if your server can provide any more upload speed. I get between 150 and 180 KB/s. Granted, I'm in the US and that is not your target audience but most speed tests from France give me twice that speed. Your panos take about 10 seconds each to load. What is it locally for you (when not in cache)?

The control buttons are a little hard for me to read at their size. If you want to keep them so small I might suggest enlarging the symbols to be more readable.

Love the map with thumbnails. Although, personally, I could do without the elastic effect.

Nice motion effects. Not sure why they wouldn't work in 2.2 unless you didn't properly copy all the new files?

Anyway, nice job!
