Just thought I'd add a few tours I created recently (sorry if some have been on here before I couldn't remember which ones I showed). Comments always welcome, I hope I can give you some ideas and inspiration, I know I do from seeing others on here.

http://2excel.uk-virtualtours.co.uk/ - These guys do a display team that can be seen all over the world. All ex red arrows! Check out the video screen in the Crew Room (third thumbnail from the left)

http://tdacademy.uk-virtualtours.co.uk/ - This is one of the largest schools in Europe and the most expensive in the UK at around £50million! The different departments are colour coded as are the hotspots but the floorplan which the client decided against using would have made this clear.

http://taylordevelopments.uk-virtualtours.co.uk/ - Local Property Developer

http://sloanes.uk-virtualtours.co.uk/ - not finished yet. The info button and navigation still needs finishing but you may like the helecopters!

http://fleetwood.uk-virtualtours.co.uk/ - Fleetwood caravans with a different kind of navigation

http://aldingbourne.uk-virtualtours.co.uk/ - I wish I'd recorded some sound for this School. Seeing other tours on this forum makes me realise how good sound is in a tour.

Please note that I am looking to change hosting providers over the next month as the tours are running slow and I've tested 1&1 and the tours load 3 times as fast!

Adrian,

I'll toss in my compliments on a nice body of work. I gather the tours are listed in reverse chronological order, most recent first. At least I find the 2excel and tdacademy the more sophisticated. The collection demonstrates a quickly developing command of the medium and FPP in general.

If I were to offer one suggestion it would be that the still images in the tdacademy site be bigger, or rather that they be able to display bigger if the viewer's browser and screen would allow it. They are fine for a common 800x600 screen currently but look painfully small when viewing the site full screen on a 1600x1200 monitor. Not sure how you would do that, however. And of course, the larger the screen the less common it is. But for the market that site would target I expect larger screens would be far more common.

Anyway, great inspiring work which I, for one enjoy and learn from. Good job(s).

Hi Adrian

Thanks for sharing your work :)

the first tour you present - http://2excel.uk-virtualtours.co.uk/ - when you click the "I" for information - you can only close the info box by clicking the "I" again. The text bow however suggest that you can clik the small red X.

It is just a smaal thing, but it can be very confusing to "common" people.
Also there is a bit of lens flares in some of the images that can easily be fixed in photoshop in just 1min.

Best regards
morten

Thanks for spotting the fault with the i button Morten, fixed now ;)

Scott, I appreciate your comments too. Regarding the photo size I totally agree but am unsure how to choose images based on screen size, maybe I need to play with the new SmartScale plugin, would that work? I had considered this plugin for the nav bar but I am unsure if it would work here and still give good quality images.

Any thoughts anyone?

...the new SmartScale plugin, would that work? I had considered this plugin for the nav bar but I am unsure if it would work here and still give good quality images.

Good idea. The plugin as written might not be best. It only kicks in when screen width gets below 800 px. However, a small rewrite would make it perfect. Should be easy for anyone who knows a little actionscript 3. Otherwise I bet Patrack or Zephyr could have a version with additional enhancements up on flashpanos.com before long ;)

I'm not sure what scaling interpolation algorithm SmartScale uses, however, or whether that can even be changed. Conceivably it could do some serious visual damage to an image when scaling if it were, say, bilinear.

I have seen some shocking stretched photos before on homepages using flash that looked like they had been taken with a mobile phone but actually you just needed to see the photo with the original screen size.
A plugin like you suggest would be great, I have no idea about actionscript3  ... which is maybe not a bad thing!

Adrian,

I love the tours. I really like the planes.

I have one thing I think helps on average user end.

I think on the image with Video "Crew Room", I would open with pan, tilt at TV and turn off auto rotation. Once video starts it is hard to keep it to watch.

I know you can turn off auto rotation. I think in many cases average user would miss that button and just get agitated.

I love looking at you tours keep them coming.

http://uk-virtualtours.co.uk/ and all subdomains are unaccessible for me. I guess I will have to take this up with my ISP sooner rather than later.

Thanks Mike, you may be right there. I'll talk to the client and see what he wants to do.
Tuddi, there is nothing on the url http://uk-virtualtours.co.uk/ but the subdomains should be fine. I've moved over to a 1&1 server now to which I find quicker than my previous host.

I've moved over to a 1&1 server now to which I find quicker than my previous host.

NOW I have no problems seeing your works! Before I would constantly get "This page can not be found".... so it must have been a restriction on your previous hosting service' server, preventing IP's from my region to access.

Nice works!
