Woohoo!
This just went live today:
http://usa.loccitane.com/FO/Content/VirtualTour/
The French version for their French site will go live soon.
Cheers!
(if running a debug version of flash player, you might get a "null reference" error -- it's ok to dismiss)

That's an example of what I have been preaching to potential clients could be done. Nice!
And then I have one minor suggestion:
How about making the links open up in a new tab/window? It is a bit disturbing when the music is cut off once leaving the store to see the products... and when going back to the store the music starts over again from the beginning.
I think it would be better received to have the pano virtual shop run without being shut down when the product links are clicked. Nice loader and overall design http://www.hraunfjord.org/whatreallyhappened/images/smiles/emthup.gif

Thanks Tuddi!
Yeah, ultimately I didn't have the final say in how the links worked. It's always a toss-up between user-friendly and pop-up annoyance.

I understand the client has the last word (unfortunately! ) But it would have been a good thing to make it an option (within the pano) to let the pano stay open.

Good work man! Hat's off. I vote best tour use yet. GREAT client!
Thats what it is all about finding ways to show the client ROI. You calculate the additional traffic from the WOW factor as it spreads among their existing clients and the increased sales and I am quite sure they will be happy.
Did they contract you for season and product line changes or are they going to look at the analytics and then decide.
If they are analytics experts I do thank they would have opted to open the new page's instead. Regaurdless it will make a positive difference. I do understand when dealing with corporate they often are not really up for sugestions. LOL
I can see that they key on it in other locations also, like
http://usa.loccitane.com/FO/StoreLocator/StoreLocator.aspx?Country=United+States
This is what happens when you get a real photographer and a real coder and creativity all mixed in to one guy.
I will be using you site as a demo, so if you get someone calling you saying another virtual tour company showed them what could be done. Please send them back my way!
Only thing I would have done diff. I would have used tool tip as something more instructional "View Full Lavendar Harvet Line".
or if you could a nice custom tool tip image. Some like the text is on over the drop down.
Question's
1. How large is the opening pano.
2. Are they going to provide you with analytics data to use as case study or did they allow you to leave a analytics set on it of your own?
3. Whats your set up, equipment wise? I am moving from a 350d to 40d with my set up tomorrow. I use the sigma 8mm lens and the agnos T-ring.
Good work again! I loved the story in VRmag by the way, you are something else.
Sorry so long you just got me excited!

Well, the tour's going to be split among their localized sites, so there'll be multiple opportunities for getting analytics; Shoooting other locations will depend on response to this tour.

Yes -- Original deadline was mid-November, but (as most projects go ;) ) the deadline was a bit fluid. It's up too late to be worked into the holiday promotions -- but I expect it will be 100% front page post-holidays.

Ha, I think it's an Okie thing? I'm excitable too. ;)
1: Should be ~1800 pixel per cube face. I had them larger originally, but filesize got a bit heavy.
2: I'll be trying to piggyback on their data -- huh, hadn't thought about inserting my own account's google/analytics code.
3: I generally use the 5D and 15mm or 24mm. Right now I use the 360Precision (absolute or adjuste) heads, but have others.
The L'Occitane shoot was with the 5D/15mm. In comparison, the concert/recital hall images at my main site are from the 24mm.
Thanks for the interest and kind words, Mike -- and no worries on the excitability front. :)

Sounds great!
I have been using analytics on all my tours I really like it.
I am switching to the percision360 for the 40d I just brought home, so that I will not be limited my my current setup for lens choices. Going to use the 8mm and what I have for now.
I would like to learn more about different lenses. For now will have to do the best we can with the 8mm.
Good work again?
Thanks Mike

How heavy are the images now?

Hey Mike:
I think the panoramas clock in between 2.5 & 4MB, depending... Not _too_ bad. ;)
Cheers!

Patrick,
You think size is Ok between 2-4meg?
I am not sure of the newest version of the player and how it down loads as I still use the last version. I guess the new is quicker.
I really like the google data as it gives you a "Time In tour if you will". I find that the smaller my files the longer they stay.
I think it really depends on the use some tours can have larger files than others.
I add Google code to my tours now just placing it on the index page.
Is there a fancy way that we could install code on individual 360's? Kind as we would the other pages in a website. I do not think so, but would be happy if you told me YES.
Would love to see a tour of 10 360's and which received the most traffic and if we had images not being looked at, just as I would when studying a website and its content.
Pls if any one has any ideas on this Post um up. It would help us all to build better more efficient tours.
Patrick, I think you should add a "Tour of the Month" to your flashpanos.com we could all vote some how. Would be fun and bring more tours out of the woods. I love looking at others.
My idea--- So I vote you winner for Dec. and we will see in Jan.
Have a Merry Christmas!

Don't you think the panorama is a bit flat. As a quick and dirty solution, why don't you try increasing the mid-tone contrast?
As this is obviously a commercial site, how much did the reproduction rights for the music cost and how was it classified in the application?

John

Sure -- image quality remains high, and download time is acceptable for faster Internet connections. I made the decision a long time ago to not cater to slow connections, unless a client or project requires it.

I imagine there's some way to have your Flash/SWF call out to the Google Analytics JavaScript. Interesting -- I bet a search at Google's site re: Analytics would show something; this question has to have come up before.

That's something to think about... right now I'd like to see more interest from other FPP users in helping post documentation and tutorials... flashpanos.com isn't just about plugins!

Interesting; to me, the panoramas seem almost oversaturated on any of the displays I've checked them out on. In any case, they're a done deal...
My client has the rights to the music, AFAIK. The music choice(s) come from a CD which they produced and sell.
