Beta 1 was tested by 3 groups:
Arty Types
Techies
and Laypeople.

The Frontend was universally criticised. Following advice from a couple of techies, it has now been streamlined and speeded up.

The content side is proving to be most interesting:

The Techies haven't made a single comment!!!!!

As far as the other groups were concerned, interest has been mainly focussed of the Royal Crescent picture, the Lumberjack, the Vikings and the German panoramas.

Everyone liked the Royal Crescent.

There are questions about the perspective in the Viking Panorama. It doesn't bother me. I think it's unavoidable when there is a prominent foreground object.

The Arty Group liked the Lumberjack panorama - at last something humorous in a field which people take far to seriously. A number of Laypeople couldn't get their heads round it, said it made them feel dizzy.

Opinion was divided on the German Music. By way of explanation, the subjects were genuine German military re-enactors and it is obvious that they enjoyed playing their parts. The music was a wartime classic by Noel Coward (who also wrote Mad Dogs and Englishmen). It has never been banned by the BBC - so if it's OK by them, it's OK by me.

A general comment on the quality of the audio. It was a tradeoff between file size (download time) and quality. I think it's nice to listen to music while the panorama is downloading.

Thanks to all of you, Merry Christmas and keep those comments coming.
