View Full Version : Just plain old-fashioned simple hotspots

I suspect the answer to this is no, but I want to ask to be sure.

Is it possible to make hotspots of the same sort most every other panorama viewer type has? That is, a region that NOT visible, but causes the cursor to change on roll-over and, when clicked, causes some action such as going to a URL to occur. Basically, a hotspot in the sense that you see in QuickTime VR.

I have looked at the hotspot example and documentation and I see all sorts of fancy and cool things, but nothing regarding just a plain vanilla hotspot.

Can I do this? If so, any pointers towards documentation? I really like the quality of this player compared to the other flash pano players, but I really need good old-fashioned hotspots.

Thanks,

John

Personnaly i use transparent Gifs as hotspot image in this case.

I don't think there's a code in intend to do this, but wait for Denis to confirm :)

Do your hotspot images distort to cover the same region as you pan the VR?

hmmm well no, currently distorted hotspots aren't available, but it seems it's planned for next version coming soon, isn't it Denis? ;)

Can it maybe be done with overlapping panoramaґs?
first layer is the normal panorama, and then for the hotspot create an overlapping panorama which is transparent except for the hotspot. And so on for other hotspots.
If it is possible to show multiple panoґs at once than this makes sure the hotspots are also distorted like the pano...

Does this work dennis?

If not, can you give us an indication when distorted hotspots are becoming possible, a lot of people are waiting for this feature.

Ooooh, if this worked out, then you could use the hotspot file generated from a QuickTime panorama... as its own overlayed panorama. Potentially interesting. Hmmm.

If it were only one or two hotspots, overlaying each as a pano might work; but since I am dealing with 39 hotspots... maybe 40 layers total might be a little much for the player to do smoothly?

Yes. Jaaab is right as always.
Wait a little, I think you'll hear about distort hotspots this month.
