Hello all-
I have recently added FPP as a viewing option for my pano galleries with great success. I have an established set of images that I have been displaying with PTViewer and QuickTime. Incorporating FPP, I'm using my .jpg equirectangulars for the small Flash versions and my pre-made full-screen QT .mov files for the the full-screen flash versions. All's well except(there's always and except isn't there?) for the weird results I'm getting at my zeniths and nadirs of the .jpg equirectangular images when viewed with FPP. When the same image(s) is/are viewed with PTViewer, the zentihs and nadirs are fine. Example would be this pano-

The problem is obvious at the zenith with this sample.
The full-screens are not an issue as they are being generated from the full-screen .mov files.

Any thoughts on a solution would be greatly appreciated.

It looks as if the image is lacking higher segments setting, but that's probably not it. I wondered about the same a couple of day's ago, but thought it was the rendering of the images from mov to equirectangular that "killed" the nadir and zenith. The distortion I got was absolutely extreme, with straight lines going zig-zag, even when the segments were set at 60.

Here an example showing the floor tiles all cracked up (Denis' bath example file):

I don't know what causes this (have too many other things to attend to), but wanted to let you know that you are not alone with this. Probably some FPP bug when displaying Equirectangular images....?

I appreciate your response. I suppose there's really not a "fix" to this issue unless Denis releases a new version to address this. I know FPP was originally made to show cube faces and I should be glad I can use it to display my pre-made Equirectangulars at all. I think my "fix" will be to decode my smaller QT .mov files instead of using the .jpg files.
Cheers!

As far as I can see you are using the cylindric converter to show a spherical image.
I am surprised that it would even show anything at all.
A cylindrical image is another projection
The cylindric converter can not be used for an equirectangular image.
If you want a small 1 file image you have to use a strip.

Actually yes. The cylConverter is used to project the equirectangular images in FPP.

Those are indeed 2 totally different formats, but Denis has (somehow) managed to have the same converter o deal with both formats.
