Question Button to load (start play) of .flv

Instead of having the .flv play on load, I'm trying to have it play once a button is pressed. I researched the forum and found >

http://flashpanoramas.com/forum/show...ighlight=video

Where phberlin suggests to, "Christophe, you can do the following: define a <spot> with a video, but set url="" (empty). Then define another spot (a play button or something similar), setting the video url in that spot:"

and that's what I did... but in ain't a worki'n... I tried many many combos and re-arrangements but won't work...

My try (where 'video.swf' is a .swf button I made):
-----------------------------------------------
<spot id="bvid01" type="box" url="" align="TL" salign="TL" staticX="250" staticY="200"/>

<spot id="butvid01" url="files/video.swf" static="1" align="TL" salign="TL" staticX="200" staticY="200" onClick="bvid01.url=files/flvplayer.swf?file=vid/8.flv"/>
-----------------------------------------------

When I copy/paste the url into the spot id it works, i.e. the video plays (but on load) so I know the paths are working and the plugin is working... >
-----------------------------------------------
<spot id="bvid01" type="box" url="files/flvplayer.swf?file=vid/8.flv" align="TL" salign="TL" staticX="250" staticY="200"/>
-----------------------------------------------

But, I cannot get the button to 'load' the video...

Default aha!

Got it to work... I was using a SwishMax2 .swf button (pretty sure Action Script 2) and when I changed "spot" to "box" it worked

<spot id="butvid01"
url="files/video.swf"

to

<box id="butvid01"
url="files/video.swf"

-----------------
Then I decided to just go ahead and make a plain old picture button .png and this also worked with "spot"

<spot id="butvid01"
url="files/vidplay.png"
-------------------

so... I guess it was the SwishMax .swf button goofing it up.

Now... how to make it so when the button is clicked a second time... it unloads the .flv....

Default Got it!

My little contribution... of course using help from others on this board.

This code will show a "start" button, when clicked will play the video and the "start" button will be swapped with a "stop" button. The video plays and you can click the "stop" button and the video will dissapear.

<spot id="bvid01"
type="box"
align="TL"
salign="TL"
staticX="250"
staticY="200"
url=""
/>

<spot id="showvidbut01"
url="panotns/vidplay.png"
static="1"
align="TL"
salign="TL"
staticX="200"
staticY="200"
onOver="brightness=0.2,"
onOut="brightness=0,"
onClick="
visible=0;
hidevidbut01.visible=1;
bvid01.url=files/flvplayer.swf?file=vid/8.flv;
"
/>

<spot id="hidevidbut01"
url="panotns/vidhide.png"
visible="0"
static="1"
align="TL"
salign="TL"
staticX="200"
staticY="200"
onOver="brightness=0.2,"
onOut="brightness=0,"
onClick="
visible=0;
showvidbut01.visible=1;
bvid01.url=;
"
/>

Glad you solved it. Surely this can be helpful for others dealing with similar problems. Thanks for posting. Regards, Ph.
