Default Keyboard access to FPP hotspots via TAB key

Hi,

I am designing a web page with a pano in it and need to consider accessibility issues i.e. users who cannot use a mouse but only a keyboard.

It is possible, in IE, for users to press the TAB key and eventually get the 'focus' of the keyboard into the pano. At this point, they can use the keyboard arrow keys and shft/ctrl keys in the normal way, or TAB out back to the web page.

But ... I am wondering if there is any way a user can TAB between hotspots (and hit ENTER to launch them) within the pano. A bit like this example which has a Flash map with hotspots which you can TAB between ... http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/d...ns/exploremap/

Any ideas if this is possible guys? Thanks

Hi

well, Flash has the tabIndex and tabEnabled proprieties
http://www.adobe.com/livedocs/flash/...tml#tabEnabled

You would need to create a swf with all your hotspots, don't know if tabIndex works between different swf's loaded in a master swf...

Thanks Paulo, this is interesting.

I have noticed though that with the embedpano.html example that came with FPP, you can TAB between the buttons in the Flash wrapper, if you are using IE. But, although the buttons get a yellow box around them when they receive keyboard focus, hitting ENTER does nothing. In the following example (which uses vtfusion), hitting ENTER does make each highlighted button work ... http://www.parliament.uk/visiting/on.../commons-tour/

Any ideas/thoughts gratefully received

Thanks

What about using HTML anchors? These readily accept tab. You could make them hidden, and then fire javascript to mimic their action in your flash file.

That parliament tour doesn't work properly on the first node. IE the keyboard stuff doesn't work and I don't see any 360 until you click a new node.

When I said ie I meant "in effect" .
On the first node only a gray background with some hotshots was visible in chrome.
I'm curious as to why you are here but using different vt software.
Good luck on the fix. Seemed ok except for that issue.

I'm on here since I use panorama player too and have been since 2007. My reply was to clear up any misleading or inaccurate information concerning the tour that visionman posted and you commented on.
Thank you for the Chrome information.
