bad luck, discocandy

but that's why I have multiple hard drives. with no work stuff on the primary drive. And back up to CD/DVD as often as needed

Secondary storage drives and DVDs are so cheap now a days, No one should get court out like this.

But I must admit, that it took three or four times of losing stuff myself, to realize this..

Arf !

Do you know VMware player ?

I've used it 2 month ago to change my computer. It's very useful, you install it on your old computer, you start the logiciel and after a while you have a totaly full image of your computer. You put it on a DD and when you start the new computer, you install a little player that allow you to have your old computer on the new one, in a little window, opened at the same time, on another screen why not. From this image, you can transfer whatever you want, the old computer is still working. Each time you close it, it save the last actions made, you can uninstall, have access to your old mail, you have 2 machines in one, exactly as if you had 2 computers. I can see that 2 months after, i continue to start the old one to transfer something i forgot to.

I know that it's too late but if it can help for the next time. If you have some question about how to use it, don't hesitate (you all) my memory (the brain one) will defragment in some weeks, month....days !

Regards

Christophe

A big plus when helping people is that most of them still had some samples o their Harddisks
so I mangaged to solve a lot of stuff
still all of my written sampple codes (wich i use for fast code writing) is gone wich is a real bummer..
But a I7 2.8 with 6gb internal mem and the nvidia 260GT is bloody fast!!
I see i need to slow down the autorotator for some tours :P

Sounds like a problem... Try installing Vista, and you will be back to normal time consumption ... and then some

I know... but my point is: No matter how fast a processor is or how big and fast a memory is; MS will find a way to bog it all down. Their latest success story on that front happens to be Vista. So in order to keep the investment and the speed gains, one should avoid Vista at all costs.
