Default movdecoder offline not working.

As many have reported the movdecoder does not work offline especially on Macs

I have tested it now on both My MacBook Pro and my older dualcore G5.

This is what I get from Safari in the activity report.
Note that I put it online and it works perfect from my server.

1 MacBook Pro 17 Safari 3.0.3

file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/cubeqtvr.html
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/files/pano.swf?xml_file=cubeqtvr.xml&
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/files/show_pano.swf
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/files/swfobject.js

Same on G5 Safari 2.0.4

file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/cubeqtvr.html
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/cubeqtvr.html
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/files/pano.swf
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/files/show_pano.swf
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/files/swfobject.js
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/pano.xml file doesn?t exist
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/pano_b.jpg file doesn?t exist
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/pano_d.jpg file doesn?t exist
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/pano_f.jpg file doesn?t exist
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/pano_l.jpg file doesn?t exist
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/pano_r.jpg file doesn?t exist
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/pano_u.jpg file doesn?t exist

as you can see above it asks for pano.xml which does not exist in Denis example.
So I renamed the cubeqtvr.xml to panoxml and voila - IT WORKED

file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/cubeqtvr.html
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/files/cylConverter.swf
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/files/fps.swf
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/files/glassMeter.swf
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/files/limits.swf
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/files/menuFullscreen.swf
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/files/movDecoder.swf
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/files/pano.swf
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/files/show_pano.swf
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/files/swfobject.js
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/images/bath.mov
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/pano.xml

Then back to my MacBook with it but surprice it still did not work.
Same report as without the pano.xml

file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/cubeqtvr.html
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/files/pano.swf?xml_file=cubeqtvr.xml&
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/files/show_pano.swf
file:///Volumes/KINGSTON/examples2/files/swfobject.js

Test in Firefox on MacBook is not loading either.

Since nobody seems to have a solution I have found the 2 main problems myself.

1. The Frame counter fps.swf does not work with movdecoder offline.
2. the way Denis opens the page in the Tutorial is not working offline (at least on Mac)

He uses this.
<script type="text/javascript">
var so = new SWFObject("files/show_pano.swf", "pano", "100%", "100%", "6.0.65", "#282828");
so.addVariable("movie", "files/pano.swf?xml_file=cubeqtvr.xml");

That works fine from server but not offline (on Mac)

I exchanged it to this:
<script type="text/javascript">
var so = new SWFObject("files/pano.swf", "pano", "100%", "100%", "6.0.65", "#282828");
so.addVariable("xml_file","cubeqtvr.xml");

and as long as you do not have the fps.swf file in the files directory it works offline and online.
If you put fps.swf in files folder you get a black page with the framecounter only.

Mac browsers can't understand query strings offline? Pity. Thanks for giving me to know. Good solution.

I can't understand now how fps counter can crash the panorama loading... I will try to repeat it.

You mean query strings in Flash in general? If you mean the sort of thing that includes loading text from an external file and displaying it (I've done this a couple of times in Flash myself, although I'm very much a beginner there) then yes, they can.

I don't know what the problem is here, but it is a big pain - really frustrating.

I mean strings like "pano.swf?xml_file=pano.xml" for offline Mac browsers.

But Hans gave the right solution:
Change
Code:
var so = new SWFObject("files/show_pano.swf", "pano", "100%", "100%", "6.0.65", "#282828");
so.addVariable("movie", "files/pano.swf?xml_file=cubeqtvr.xml");
to
Code:
var so = new SWFObject("files/show_pano.swf", "pano", "100%", "100%", "6.0.65", "#282828");
so.addVariable("movie", "files/pano.swf");
so.addVariable("xml_file", "cubeqtvr.xml");
Also be sure that your security options for offline Flash applications are defined correctly:
http://www.macromedia.com/support/do...manager04.html
(you have to add FPP's folder to trusted list).
